Western Mongolia

Uvs-Nuur is the largest lake in Mongolia with an area of 3423 km2, the length and width of which is about 80 kilometers. It is located in the Great Lakes Basin, which was listed in 2003 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The name "Uvs" is supplemented with the clarifying word "Nuur", which in translation means "lake" - this is due to the traditions of the Mongolian language.
